Imam al-Ghazali

“I saw a man in the desert who was 120 years old. I asked him about his vitality at such an age. He replied:‘I abandoned envy, so the body remained.’
“If we knew what is said about us in our absence, we would not smile at the faces of many people!”
“A wise man was asked, ‘Why is the sky clear?’
He smiled and said: ‘Because humans do not live there!’”
“A little water can save you, and a great flood can drown you.
Learn always to be content with what you have.”
“To succeed in Life you need two things:
Confidence and the ability to ignore (what doesn’t benefit you).”
“Stupidity is a deficit; pretending to be foolish is perfection.
Oblivion is loss; deliberate overlooking is wisdom!”
“That unknown distress you feel — perhaps it is sins calling you to seek forgiveness.”
“The Qur’an is like your third eye:
When you are choked by the smoke of worldly life, it benefits, intercedes, and elevates you.
Do not abandon it”
“Prayer makes a person more in control of his emotions. Allah says:
‘Man was created anxious; when evil touches him he is distraught, and when good touches him he is withholding — except for those who pray.’”
“The envious one sees you as arrogant; The lover sees you as wonderful!”
“Do not be hurt if someone denies your favour to them — Street lights are forgotten in daylight!”
“No single sending of blessings upon the Prophet (Peace be upon him) rises to the Heavens except that it returns tenfold. How astonishing that anyone would be stingy with himself!”
“A tree fell, and everyone heard the sound of its fall, while an entire forest grows in silence and makes no noise. People notice your downfall, not your excellence.”
“Some turns in life are harsh — but they are necessary to continue the journey.”
“Learn to illuminate those around you, even if your own inner corners are very dark.”
“What brings ongoing misfortune is not bad luck, but accumulated sins we have forgotten. Indeed, sins remove blessings.”
“In the early days of Islam, the permissible (marriage) was made easy so the forbidden became difficult. In our time, the permissible has become difficult, and the forbidden has become easy.”
“A poor young man proposed to a girl and they did not approve. Later, a rich but immoral man proposed, and they agreed, saying: ‘God will guide him!’ Why did they not say about the first: ‘God will provide for him’? Is not the Guide also the Provider?”
“We search our pockets for the smallest coins to give in charity, then ask Allah to grant us the highest Paradise! How small our gifts — and how great our requests!”
“May you be well wherever you are. Remember three supplications in your prostration (Sujood):
O Allah, I ask You for a good ending.
O Allah, grant me sincere repentance before death.
O Allah, Controller of hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion.”
“Do good even if you see it as small, for you do not know which deed will admit you to Paradise.

“You Cannot Retire”

I have come to this conclusion, not just from books or sermons, but from the steady drumbeat of real life. From watching friends, colleagues, family members, great men—men of wisdom, strength, and wealth—choose to retire… only to quietly fade into sickness, into sorrow
Retirement, in the way the world understands it, is not rest—it is resignation. Resignation from purpose. From duty. From the creative tension that keeps the spirit vibrant and alert.
We are taught that everything in Creation is in motion. Motion is life. Motion is law.

Look around you:
Rivers flow ceaselessly—wherever the current breaks off, water stagnates and death settles in.
*The Earth rotates without pause.
* The seasons march in perfect obedience.
* Even the great stars above us dance in eternal cycles, never swerving, never stalling.
We were not made to rest. We were made to strive, to build, to create, to solve, to nurture.
The moment we choose to withdraw from life’s current, to step out of the stream and into the stagnant pool of ‘retirement,’ something begins to wither—first in the mind, then in the body, then in the soul.
What is needed is not retirement—but redirection. A man may leave a career, yes, but he must never leave his calling. He must find another field where his hands are needed, where his thoughts must still labour, where his spirit can continue to serve.

A man must have something that:
* Keeps him curious,
* Keeps him responsible,
* Keeps him accountable,
* Keeps him needed.
For as long as breath remains, there must be engagement—with God, with purpose, with people, with destiny.
Even a candle in its last inch must burn with dignity, casting light until the final flicker.
Even in old age, the tree must still bear fruit—or at least cast shade.
Even at sunset, the sky must still paint itself with glory.
So keep moving, my brothers. Keep thinking. Keep building. Keep giving. Keep creating.
That is the law. That is the way. That is life.

EVERY MINUTE, SOMEONE LEAVES THIS WORLD

Age has nothing to do with it.
We’re all in this queue without realizing it.
We never know how many people are in front of us.
We can’t go to the back of the line.
We can’t get out of line.
We can’t stop moving forward.
So, while we wait in line…
Let’s make peace!
Let’s do good!
Let’s tell the truth!
Let’s be honest!
This world will leave us one day, that’s for sure.
There’s no point holding a grudge against someone who could leave at any moment.
There’s no point sending a brother to prison when you yourself could leave first.
What’s the point of boasting about putting others down when you could be gone in the next few minutes?
Why do you let yourself be deceived by your money, your social position, and your connections, when you’re not the first to have them?
While you seek your brother’s death for a piece of land in the village, others exploit your continent and even invade planets.
Evil is ignorance.
Pride is for the foolish.
Selfishness is for the poor.
Betrayal is for the weak.
So let’s do good while we’re still alive!
Let’s use the little time we have left to reveal the secret of life.
This secret seems both simple and absurd.
It’s what keeps the world on tenterhooks.
May God bless you richly and abundantly.
