Dr. Muhammad Ali, a Nigerian scholar, has written an open letter to U.S. President Donald Trump, urging him to reconsider his approach to Nigeria-U.S. relations.
In a letter, Dr. Ali emphasized the importance of prioritizing mutual respect, accurate intelligence, and diplomatic engagement over emotional reactions and unverified claims.
Dr. Ali expressed his concern regarding reports of alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria, highlighting the necessity for caution and thorough investigation.
He noted that conflicts in Nigeria are complex, involving ethnic, resource, and criminal factors, and should not be attributed solely to religious motivations.
The scholar also pointed out that all Nigerians, irrespective of their religion or ethnicity, are suffering due to challenges such as insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping.
He stressed that the Nigerian government is actively addressing these issues and urged President Trump to rely on comprehensive intelligence reports rather than sensationalized narratives.
