SDGs, NTI begins 2-day digital capacity training workshop for Teachers

To ensure the effectiveness of teachers in public schools across the country, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) and the National Teachers Institute(NTI) has begun a two day Capacity Building on Digital illiteracy in Abuja,
The Workshop open yesterday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, said the workshop was designed to enhanced the capacity of all Head teachers in public schools as well as to ensure quality education in the country.
The Director General of NTI,Professor Garba Dahuwa Azare while speaking at the event commended participating teachers to make good use of the opportunity provided by the workshop in order to increase their information technology skill adding that effective teaching methods must also include technology know how as the world now is a global village.
He maintained that the workshop was parts of his Institute mandate as provided by the law to train and retrain teachers for them to compete locally and internationally with the colleagues.
In an interview, the Co-Founder and Director Axion Learning Solution, Ani-Bassey Eyo and chief consultant at the event,explained the important of digital literacy skills by teachers.
According to Bassey Eyo.’Although there has been a decay in the education system in the country as well as teachers in competency, a major way we can arrest this problem is using digital literacy’.
While expressing the hope on positive results from teachers after the workshop explained that teachers in both urban and rural areas will benefit maximally from digital learning once they make up their minds to do so.
In an interview, the Executive Director/CEO Faith-based Aids Awareness Initiative, Folorunsho Olorimtunde urged government at all levels to always release fund meant for education sector on time.
