The Social Democratic Party, (SDP), in Oyo State has advised the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), in the state to desist from spreading fake news about the so-called recent defection of some individuals.

SDP noted that none of its members have defected to PDP.

It would be recalled that PDP had claimed it received the majority of SDP members in Oluyole Local Government Area who defected at the weekend.

According to PDP, the defectors were led by one Mr Olusina Ogunsola.

However, in its reaction, SDP declared that the said Ogunsola is not known to the party.

SDP Chairman and Secretary in Oluyole Local Government, respectively Ganiyu Lawal, and Saheed Adewale Adetunji, in a statement issued on Monday, noted that the party in the local government area is intact.

The duo, in the statement made available to DAILY POST in Ibadan, the state capital, insisted that the said Ogunsola is not a member of SDP in the local government area.

“It has come to our notice that one Mr Ogunsola led some of our members in SDP Oluyole Local Government to the PDP Oluyole.

“We want the general public to know that SDP Oluyole is intact; none of our members left the party in SDP Oluyole Local Government. Those names that were mentioned in the news are not our members; they left the party before the 2023 general election. It is no longer news that the SDP gubernatorial candidate declared support for the PDP candidate, Gov Oluseyi Makinde, which led to his defection to the PDP before the last general election.

“For Mr Ogunsola to claim that he led our members to the PDP shows that he knows nothing about Oluyole politics and is at the mercy of political traders. We advise him to watch his political movements and seek political advice before he lands in the house of political parasites.

“We are using this medium to inform the general public that none of our members has defected to the PDP. We also want to advise the PDP to stop spreading fake news that SDP members have joined the PDP.”
