Social Development Secretariat (SDS), of the FCT Administration has indicated interest to reviving critical social facilities across the six Area Councils of the Territory.
SDS Mandate Secretary, Ibrahim Aminu dropped the hint yestetday, during the ongoing Area Councils tour, noted that effort would be directed towards those facilities that can be revived immediately and put them to use, while those that require long time planning will also be giving necessary attentions.
Aminu reaffirmed his commitment to actualising the mandate of the Social Development Secretariat, which according to him, is the provision of social services to the residents of the territory.
Some of the facilities visited in company of other senior officials of the Secretariat include, Ushafa Pottery Centre, Bwari Mini Stadium in Ushafa, Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre, Kuchiko-Bwari, Women Development Centre, Zuba and also Lugbe Vocational and Training Centre.
Also, the SDS Secretary who did not hide his displeasure over the deplorable conditions of some of the facility visited directed relevant departments in charge of such facilities to ensure they compiled a comprehensive report about the current state of the facility including challenges with pictorial evidence and forward it to his office for onward presentation to the minister.
It was observed that he was visibly unhappy at the vey bad shape abandoned Bwari Mini Stadium in Ushafa which its construction had been stalled despite the fact that about fifty percent of the funds have been paid to the contractor handling the project.
Aminu therefore promised to report the level of things he has seen so far in the course of the tour to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and Mariya Mahmoud as he described the duo as promoters of renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
