Security breaches: NSGF holds emergency meeting next week

Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has scheduled an emergency meeting for Tuesday, April 22, at the Niger state Governor’s Lodge, Jose Marti Crescent, Asokoro, Abuja by 4:00 p.m.

A statement by the Secretary to the Government of Niger State and Coordinating Chairman, Forum of Secretaries to the Government of Northern States, Hon. Sa’idu Idris Kpaki said the meeting was called out of concern to address the incessant attacks and systematic killings of innocent people going on in the region, which has become a source of embarrassment and great concern to the Forum.

The statement also explained that the meeting will discuss the increasing incidences of clashes between herdsmen and local communities as well as the reckless massacre and kidnapping of people across the Northern states.

Hon. Kpaki reiterated the Forum’s commitment to put an end to the unacceptable wanton carnage and security challenges that is bedeviling the region through collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The Co-ordinating Chairman said that the NSGF meeting will be preceded by the meeting of the Forum of Secretaries to the Governments of Northern States by 10:00 a.m. on the same date and venue with the meeting of NSGF.

A communiqué will be issued at the end of the meeting.
