The All Progressive Congress (APC) affirmed the serving Senator Ahmed Muhammad Malam-Madori as a consensus candidate to contest for Senator representing Jigawa North East Senatorial District, in the forthcoming 2027 general election.
The affirmation took place during the party’s primary election held in Hadejia, the headquarters of the senatorial district.
Senator Malam-Madori’s emergence followed the withdrawal of his major challengers, retired Comptroller-General of Immigration, Muhammad Babandede, Barrister Sani Garin Gabas and Pharm. Ubali Hashim.
The exercise was conducted by the APC Primary Election Committee chairman from Sokoto State and witnessed by party leaders, stakeholders and supporters from across the district.
Among dignitaries present at the exercise were the APC Zonal Vice Chairman in Jigawa State, Hon. Muhammad Umar Dikkuma, and the State Vice Chairman, Hon. Nasiru Jahun.
If victorious at the 2027 general election, Malam Madori, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, will return to the National Assembly for a second term.
Speaking shortly after his affirmation, the senator expressed gratitude to party stakeholders, delegates and supporters across the district for the confidence reposed in him.
“I want to thank our party elders and executives in Jigawa North East Senatorial District for their unwavering support. I will continue to promote their interests at all times,” he said.
The senator also commended Governor Umar Namadi for his leadership, encouragement and political guidance which, according to him, contributed immensely to the successful consensus arrangement.
Malam Madori urged APC members and supporters in the district to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the party as “one political family.”
Addressing party faithful at the event, the senator thanked the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, represented by Hon. Achidi, as well as the Jigawa State APC Chairman, Hon. Ahmad Garba, represented by Hon. Nasiru Jahun, for ensuring a transparent and peaceful exercise.
He also lauded the screening and election committees, party executives, local government chairmen and women leaders for their contributions to the success of the primary.
The senator further pledged to continue working with party leaders and constituents to deepen unity within the APC and provide quality legislation and good governance for the people of Jigawa State and Nigeria at large.
“We shall continue to work together to heal divisions within the party and strengthen our collective resolve towards delivering good governance to our people,” he stated.
