The Senator representing Kano South, Suleiman Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, has urged Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, to Prioritize the economic concerns of Nigerians and reconnect with grassroots support ahead of the 2027 elections.
Kawu Sumaila, who is also the APC senatorial candidate for Kano South, gave the advice in a goodwill message to Yari and members of the campaign council.
The Senator described the appointments as a reflection of the confidence placed in Yari and other members of the council, expressing optimism that their experience and leadership would contribute to the party’s success at the polls.
He, however, stressed that the campaign must recognize the economic difficulties confronting ordinary Nigerians and engage citizens with empathy, active listening and a genuine understanding of their daily struggles.
According to him, the APC must demonstrate that it understands the hardship being experienced by families and is committed to providing meaningful solutions.
Kawu Sumaila also called for renewed engagement with grassroots constituents, warning that a disconnect between political leaders and the electorate could create misconceptions and weaken support for both President Bola Tinubu and the APC.
He urged the campaign council to ensure that all its activities complied strictly with the Electoral Act and the Constitution, arguing that electoral victory must be pursued within the framework of legality, legitimacy and public trust.
The Kano South Senator further charged the council to clearly communicate President Tinubu’s policies, programmes and broader vision to Nigerians, saying the electorate must be made to understand the administration’s agenda and its intended benefits.
He identified unity within the APC as another critical factor for victory, calling on party leaders and members to put aside internal differences, heal divisions and ensure that stakeholders at all levels were carried along.
“Victory depends on complete solidarity,” Kawu Sumaila said, stressing the need for all party stakeholders to work together as equal partners towards the 2027 elections.
He expressed confidence in Yari’s ability to lead the campaign council effectively and prayed for a successful, peaceful and seamless electoral process.
