Former Benue State Governor and Senator representing Benue North East Senatorial District, Sen. Gabriel Suswam has outrightly rejected the outcome of the Senatorial election and has headed to the court.
Suswam lost to Barr. Emmanuel Udende of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Senior Special Assistant to the Senator on Media Bede Bartholomew disclosed in a telephone chat with our coreepondent on Monday, lamenting that the election was marred by irregularities and discrepancies, adding that the senator has not conceded defeat.
According to him, “he(Suswam) will retrieve his mandate from the court. The people of the zone overwhelmingly voted for him but INEC did not do its job properly”.
He however, denied claims in some section that his boss lost as a result of the wrangling in the party, averring “it has no issue with the party(PDP), they did not collate the result. The issue the party had is different and we cannot join it with the election. A party can go into an election in dispute and still win and my boss performed very well.
“My boss was at a meeting on Sunday convened by Governor Samuel Ortom at Government House. We have no issue with the party”, he stated.
