From Raji Bello, Sokoto
The Senator representing Sokoto Central senatorial zone in the National Assembly, Alhaji Ahmed Maccido, has said he is the most qualified candidate among other aspirants jostling for the seat.
The Senator who doubles as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, is seeking a return in 2015 on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Maccido spoke in Sokoto, through a statement signed by the Coordinator of his support group, Maina 2015 Campaign Organisation, Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu.
He said that his stern loyalty and dedication to his party should be taken into account and thus should be appreciated by other aspirants in the race.
According to the statement, “Maccido is a loyal member who is the only Senator from Sokoto state that remained with the PDP when other senators defected to APC.
“Also, the argument that Senator Maccido has been voted twice into the Senate thus should be replaced with another candidate, is therefore not only absurd but shows how uninformed some people are about our constitution and democratic practices”, the statement further stated.
The group, however urged the party members to be steadfast and work assiduously toward the success of PDP in the forthcoming general election in the state.
