The Senate yesterday , passed for third reading , bills seeking for establishment of Federal University of Technology Ilaro in Ogun State and Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia , Kaduna State.
Passage of both bills by the Senate were sequel to consideration of report presented for that purpose by its Committee on Tertiary Education and (TETFUND).
As contained in the report , presented by Chairman of the Committee, Senator Dandutse Mohammed ( APC Katsina South) , the establishment bill for Federal University of Technology Ilaro in Ogun State , is predicated on upgrading the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro to Federal University of Technology.
Senator Solomon Adeola ( APC Ogun West), sponsored the bill , which was first considered in the 9th Senate but didn’t see the light of the day .
The Senate on Federal University of Applied Sciences Kashia , Kaduna State , approved recommendation of the committee , for change of location of the University from Manchok as earlier proposed by sponsor of the bill , Senator Sunday Katung ( PDP Kaduna South), to Kachia.
The red chamber accordingly after clause by clause consideration of the reports , passed the two bills for third reading .
