Spokesperson of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, has strengthened his political standing in Ekiti State after emerging victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Ekiti South ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adaramodu polled 12,200 votes to defeat two major contenders in the exercise which include a former Senate Minority Leader, Biodun Olujimi, who secured 7,420 votes, and former House of Representatives member, Bamidele Faparusi, who garnered 5,502 votes.
The result of the keenly contested primary was announced by the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee, Adedoyin, who described the exercise as peaceful and compliant with the party’s constitutional provisions and electoral guidelines.
He stated that Adaramodu satisfied all requirements stipulated by the party and recorded the highest number of valid votes cast by delegates across the senatorial district.
The victory is widely seen as a significant political statement by the Senate spokesman, especially against the backdrop of the influence and experience of the opponents he outperformed in the race.
With the outcome, Adaramodu has officially secured the APC ticket to represent Ekiti South Senatorial District in the 2027 National Assembly election.
