Senator laments closure of schools in Nasarawa, Benue borders

Senator representing Nasarawa Southern Senatorial District at the National Assembly Sulaiman Adokwe has expressed discomfort over the incessant attacks and closure of schools in the affected crisis zones between Nasarawa and Benue borders.
Senator Adokwe who stated this at the weekend when he presented relief materials to the displaced TIV people currently taking refuge at Angwan Attashi Primary School; described the situation as unfortunate, urged the TIV people to be calm.
According to him, “I am here today to commiserate with you people over the ugly incident that happened. I know most of you are affected by this heinous act. You people have been compelled to leave your respective homes because of the security threats in the affected border towns”.
He continued, “I am here to tell the world that this crisis is not limited to Benue State alone. From day one, initially we thought the crisis was limited to Benue State, I am also here to draw the attention of my colleagues and the world that this crisis has ravaged my Senatorial district. Not less than 20 people have died. People are dying and the crisis is escalating the more”.
Adowke who further appealed to the federal government and security operatives to take stringent measures to bring to an end this skirmishes.
The lawmaker, however, assured the affected communities of his determination to inform his colleagues at the Assembly to do everything humanly possible in order to address the crisis between Nasarawa and Benue borders.
“National Assembly is more committed on this issue than the executive arm. I am here today because my Senatorial district is on fire. I have seen mothers, children and the old are suffering, I urged the government to bring an end to this matter. We don’t play politics with human lives. I am disturbed with this incessant killing of innocent people at the border towns,” He said.
