Service delivery: Ohaa warns civil servants against kickbacks, gifts

The Permanent Secretary, FCT Administration (FCTA), Christian Ohaa, has issued strong warning to civil servants under the administration not to wait for kickbacks or appreciation from residents before carrying out their official duties.
Ohaa who spoke yesterday at a training workshop for staff of Development Control Department of Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), warned anyone caught will not be speared, as such acts will be dealt with guiding rules and ethics of the service.
He maintained that civil servants who err in carrying out their official duties have be dismissed while others get other measure of punishments in accordance to the ethics of the service to reduce industrial court litigations between the employees of the FCTA.
While speaking on the process of punishment the the Permanent Secretary maintained that some workers were made to face constituted committee to review the offences which, he said will not stop.
According to the number one FCT civil servant, all workers must be abreast of the public service rules, in order to aid them in carrying out their day to day public service.
He noted that the aim of the training which is to bridge the knowledge gap of the fresh workers and the old ones is to help the department to perform in providing excellent services in planning and developing, maintaining Abuja as the FCT.
He noted that building collapse was as largely as a result for failure on the parts of regulators, warning them not to Wait for rewards before performing their duties.
Also speaking, AMMC Coordinator, Umar Shuaibu, said the training which is in batches would be expanded to cover staff of other departments under the council, in order to improve service delivery to the people.
Similarly, Director, Development Control Department, Muktar Galadima said it’s expected that the training will help create a departure from mediocre, corrupt and ineptitude civil servants that will be apt in carrying out their duties with less challenges
