Spanish giants, Sevilla FC has informed Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke that he is no longer part of the club’s plans ahead of the new season.
The LaLiga side has placed the Nigerian international on the transfer list after deciding to part ways with the 27-year-old following two seasons at the club.
Ejuke joined Sevilla on a free transfer from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp but has struggled to establish himself as a regular.
The Nigerian forward did not travel with Sevilla for their pre-season tour of Germany and the Netherlands, further fueling speculation over his future.
Several clubs have been linked with the forward including Fulham, Leeds United, Sunderland, Bayer Leverkusen, and Belgian giants Anderlecht. Interest has also emerged from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Anderlecht are reportedly preparing a €4 million bid for Ejuke, with Sevilla open to selling the winger, who has just one year remaining on his current contract and has been left out of the club’s pre-season friendlies.
The Super Eagles star remains in Seville while negotiations over his future continue. sevilla are confident an agreement can be reached before the squad returns from pre-season, with his departure expected to play a key role in the club’s ongoing rebuild.
The Spanish club hopes the transfer fee, along with removing his wages from the payroll, will help strengthen its finances and create room in the squad.
Since arriving at Sevilla, Ejuke has made 52 appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Last season, he registered one goal and one assist in 27 matches
