Sexual/Gender based violence: Wako monarch hails NGO

The District Head of Wako Community in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), His Royal Highness Adamu Yakubu Mohammed, has hailed the Executive Director in charge of Abiodun Essiet Initiative for Girls (AEIG) for sensitizing both Female and Male at Yewuti Community on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence.

The District Head gave the Community in an interview with Newsmen during the second Interphase meeting of AEIG to give a score card don the Community response from the traditional rulers as well as people of Yewuti Community.

He called on both traditional rulers and residents of Yewuti Community to always move towards arresting the problems of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence for the protection of girls and boys in the Society.

The royal father pledged to make use of the opportunity provided by AEIG to tackle Sexual and Gender Violence when it occurs in his Community.

Also speaking with Journalists, the project officer of AEIG, Josephine Emeghoghena who represented the Executive Director Mrs. Abiodun Essiet said the programme was one of the series of project by NGO in enlightening the people of the Community on what Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is and the action expected from them.

The AEIG Executive Director disclosed that about 100 people were sensitised on GBV in the community.
