Following the demise of Sheikh Usman Abubakar Baban Tune, the Council of Imams and Ulama has appointed Sheikh Ibrahim Nakaka as the new chairman of the Council.
This was contained in a statement by the Secretary General of the Council, Malam Yusuf Yakubu Arrigasiyyu issued yesterday in Kaduna.
The statement stated that Shaykh Nakaka emerged as chairman after series of consultations among its members.
He said the Chief Imam of Zaria Low-cost Mosque, Dr. Muhammad Aliyu is now the 1st Vice Chairman while the Chief Imam of Yahaya Road Mosque and the Acting Chief Imam of Kafanchan Mosque, Shaykh Muhammad Hassan and Malam Muhammad Kabir Qasim are 2ndand 3rd vice chairmen respectively.
He urged members to be steadfast and join hands to work for the progress of Islam and Nigeria.
