Less than a month to the presidential polls across the country, a group of supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have accused Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali, of not embarking on vigorous campaigns in Kano state for the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking to journalists at a press briefing in Kano, chairman of Goodluck/Sambo Support Group, Abdulmumin Ya’u Musa, lamented the lacklustre attitude of those charged with the campaign in the state.

He lamented that nothing is being done to boost the effort in the mobilisation drive for supporters for re-election bid of the President.

Musa also said the group has observed that no serious Jonathan’s campaign is ongoing in Kano state, citing that posters, banners, billboards or branded vehicles cannot be found in strategic places in the state.

He wondered also why no PDP candidate has openly identified himself with the party’s Presidential candidate in campaign posters or produced a jingle on radio or internet.

“We wish to avail to President, especially the Goodluck/Sambo Presidential Campaign Organisation and the general public of the lacklustre attitude of those charged with the campaign in the state, as their approach lacks vigour, and it will indeed be a statement of fact that nothing is being done at the moment to boost the effort in the mobilization drive for supporters for the re-election project with just about one month to the presidential polls”, he said.

The chairman lamented that “with the number of projects brought to the state by Goodluck’s administration, as well as lucrative appointments given to sons and daughters of the state in his government, the President does not deserve this i-don’t-care attitude”.

However, Musa expressed hope that with the 120 Jonathan’s support groups, which he said, has membership strength of about 1.5million mobilised over the last two years, the ugly trend in the state can be turned around.

He appealed to the party’s presidential flag bearer and its leadership to act fast to provide campaign materials, stressing that if the materials would be on ground, they are ready to sell the candidate in the state within the shortest period of time.
