Shema enhances citizens’ welfare, says Chief of Staff

Chief of Staff, Government House Katsina, Alhaji Salisu Yusuf Majigiri, has said that the state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Shema, has improved the welfare of the people of the state through his various development initiatives.

Majigiri stated this yesterday while launching the state’s quarterly drugs allocation to Mashi Local Government in Mashi. He said that the governor’s initiative in the health sector is enhancing accessibility to quality drugs for rural communities.

The chief of staff disclosed that the assorted drugs would be distributed to 55 health centres across the state, where he said people in need would be visiting these hospitals to have access to the drugs free of charge.

According to him, “the governor is always trying to initiate programmes and policies that would improve the health and economic status of people of the state.  These free drugs are distributed quarterly to all the 34 local governments of the state”.

Majigiri however called on the benefitting hospitals and communities to make judicious use of the drugs, stressing that  government would not relent in its efforts in providing rural communities access to free , affordable and qualitative health care services.

Similarly, the chief of staff noted that Shema’s  administration has initiated a workable youth empowerment programme, free education, women empowerment, the Songhai farming initiative and free drugs for pregnant mothers and their babies.

Meanwhile, no fewer than 5,000 decampees from the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Mashi Local Government area of Katsina state.

Receiving the decampees in Mashi, Katsina Chief of Staff and the state chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Rabi’u Gambo Bakori, welcomed the decampees and urged them to feel at home.

Majigiri said the decampees have made a wise decision as, according to him, PDP is the only true national political party that has no ethnic, regional or religious affiliations and that is accepted by all Nigerians.

He stated that the decampees were particularly fascinated by the honest and transparent disposition of Governor Shema’s administration that has delivered democracy dividends across the state in all sector of the society.

In his remarks, the PDP chairman noted that in PDP there is no discrimination between old and new members and therefore called on the decampees to feel at home and work towards the success of the party in the forthcoming local government election in the state.

Speaking earlier, leaders of the decampees, Zayyana Lawal Mashi  of the APC and Salman Marke of the PDM  said they were attracted by the performance of the state Governor Shema to join the PDP and contribute their quarter in the development of the state.
