Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, on Wednesday morning to participate in the 2026 Jigawa State Economic and Investment Summit (J-INVEST 2026), taking place at the Government House.

The Vice President’s spokesman, Stanley Kingsley Nwocha, disclosed the development in a post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday.

According to Nwocha, the summit, themed “Unlocking Investment Opportunities in Jigawa State,” is a flagship government-led investment conference bringing together global investors, development partners and private sector leaders to explore investment opportunities across key sectors of the state’s economy.

Shettima was received on arrival by the Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi; the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad; members of the Jigawa State Executive Council; and other senior government officials.

The summit is expected to provide a platform for showcasing Jigawa State’s investment potential, promoting public-private partnerships and attracting both local and foreign investments to drive economic growth and sustainable development.

Earlier on Monday, all seven North-West governors from Kano, Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna and Jigawa converged on Hadejia Local Government Area of the state for the official launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

The event, which also attracted cabinet ministers, traditional rulers and other senior government officials, was aimed at strengthening efforts to combat food insecurity and improve nutrition among vulnerable households, particularly pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under the age of six.
