Vice-President Kashim Shettima is set to present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) holding in Davos, Switzerland.
This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Vice-President.
According to Nkwocha, Shettima has arrived in Davos to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the annual global economic forum. He was received on arrival by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yussuf Tuggar; the Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; and officials of the Nigerian Mission.
The Vice-President is expected to participate in plenary sessions focusing on the responsible deployment of Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology.
Nkwocha noted that throughout the week, Shettima will hold bilateral meetings with heads of state, top global executives, and leaders of international development finance institutions.
“These engagements are aimed at deepening strategic partnerships in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.
He further explained that WEF 2026 marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s global economic diplomacy with the official debut of Nigeria House Davos.
“For the first time, the Nigerian government has established a sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade,” Nkwocha stated.
The facility, established through a Public-Private Partnership, will serve as a hub for ministerial engagements, investment roundtables, and cultural diplomacy throughout the forum.
Speaking on the initiative, Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, said Nigeria would use the inauguration of Nigeria House in Davos to showcase key investment opportunities.
“We will present four playbooks highlighting President Tinubu’s efforts to re-engineer the Nigerian economy,” she said.
According to her, Nigeria will showcase opportunities in solid minerals, climate-sustainable agriculture, the creative industry, and the digital sector to investors from around the world.
