The Delta state Police Command has remained silence over the alleged killing of four Police Officers by SARS officials along East West road in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state at the weekend.
Sources said that the four Policemen dressed in plain clothes, were in a public vehicle heading to warri before they were accosted by the Special Anti Robbery Squad ( SARS) at Eruemukowharien Junction in Ughelli.
It was gathered that an argument ensued between the unidentified Police Officers and SARS and in that process, the four Police Officers and the driver of the vehicle were shot dead, but when contacted on phone, the Delta state Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO) DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya said she was not aware of the incident.
A senior security officer attached to Ughelli Area Command who Confirmed the incident on Condition of anonymity disclosed that the Corpses of the slain Officers and their guns were taken away from the scene to the State Police Headquarters in Asaba.
However, it was gathered that the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah had put everything in place to pay unscheduled visit to Ughelli Area Command over the incident.
Efforts by our Correspondent to get conmment from the Police Commissioner Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah did not yeild positive results as he didn’t pick his calls put across to his GSM phones.
A security source at the Command who spoke on condition of anonymity said” we were briefed that the state Commissioner of Police Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah would be visiting the Ughelli Area Command but as at the time of this report, the CP was yet to arrive Ughelli”.
