The Abuja maiden edition of Soap Award has celebrated the radio personalities with Marvellous Philips of Silverbird Rhythm, Victor Ijomah of Eagles FM Calister Ojonugwa Enejele who came first, second and third respectively.
The month-long event that commenced on September 11, 2023, and concluded on October 10, 2023, was a resounding success in recognizing the outstanding contributions of radio sport presenters.
Six contestants, each nominated by their respective radio stations, fervently competed for the prestigious Personality of the Year award, as the top three contestants were presented with cash prizes, plaques and other branded gift items.
It was organized by Gofindplayers, an online sports community dedicated to identifying grassroots talents and providing exposure both domestically and internationally.
The SOAP AWARDS, which went beyond mere recognition, aimed to appreciate the dedication and significant contributions of radio sport presenters to the overall sports community.
Gofindplayers, the driving force behind the event, serves as a multifaceted platform that connects sports enthusiasts, facilitates networking opportunities, provides a scouting platform for talent identification, discovers sports events and tournaments.
It also organizes tournaments based on the structure of the Football Academy Cups Awards (FACA).
The platform also serves as a hub for sharing sports news and extends invitations to coaches and academy owners to showcase their unique offerings.
The competition which was keenly contested had six contestants from different radio stations from Marvellous Philips if Silverbird Rythym FM 94.7, Odiri Itoro Akan of Nigerian Info FM 95.1 and David Okon of The Beat FM 97.9.
Other contestants are Praise Alonge of WAZOBIA FM 99.5, Calister Ojonugwa Enejele of WE FM 106.3(only Female) as well as Victor Ijomah of Eagles FM 102.3 Abuja.
They vied for the coveted Sports On Air Personality of the Year Award, which involved passionate campaigns, leveraging their on-air charisma and social media presence to encourage fans and listeners to engage in the voting process on www.gofindplayers.com.
The grand finale, the gift presentation for the SOAP AWARDS, unfolded on October 20, 2023.
Mr. Henry Ezeiefule, the CEO of Gofindplayers, along with the project supervisor, Patience M. Asher, Ugo Uyanna Media Consultant of the project and other members of the project team worked assiduously to ensure the process was rancour free and orchestrated an event that not only celebrated the winners but also emphasized the strategic importance of radio sport presenters in shaping the sports discourse.
