From Bashir Rabe Mani, Sokoto

Sokoto State Government has presented operational vehicles to various security agencies in the state as part of efforts to strengthen the fight against banditry and other forms of criminality.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen on Monday in Sokoto by Garba Mohammed, Director of Press Affairs Deputy Governor’s Office, Sokoto State.
The vehicles were procured by the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu to enhance the operational capacity of the security agencies and improve the state’s security architecture.
Presenting the keys to the vehicles, the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, reaffirmed the administration’s unwavering commitment to restoring lasting peace and security across the state.
He urged the beneficiary security agencies to make judicious use of the vehicles in the discharge of their responsibilities to ensure that the objective of providing them is achieved.
Alhaji Gobir also stressed that maintaining peace and security is a collective responsibility, noting that security agencies alone cannot effectively tackle crime without the support of the public.
He therefore called on residents of the state to cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious persons and activities for necessary action.
