Date:

From Raji Bello, Sokoto

Sokoto state government has re-awarded its new secretariat building, Usman Faruk Secretariat to an indigenous firm, Messrs Abdustar Construction Company at the cost of N5, 284,206,081.

This was disclosed by the state commissioner for information, Malam Danladi Bako on Wednesday at a press briefing, shortly after the state executive council meeting held at Government House, Sokoto.

He said the project has earlier been awarded to Edile Construction Nigeria Limited at the cost of N5.7 but was revoked due to what he described as “slow pace of the work by the contractor.”

The commissioner said the new contractor has been given the mandate to complete the project before the expiration of the current administration next year.

According to him, “It is the aspiration of His Excellency, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko to see that all projects embarked on are completed before handing over the government next year. He has

emphasised on that.” It could been recall that the previous contractor is challenging the

state government in a lawsuit for revoked the contract without due process.

The case filed before Justice Abubakar Muazu Lamido of state High Court has the state government and Attorney-General as the first and second respondents respectively.
