Sokoto govt to distribute 244 ambulances to PHCs

The Sokoto state government said, on Friday, that it would soon distribute the 244 ambulances it recently purchased to primary healthcare centres (PHCs) in the state.

Special Adviser to Gov. Aliyu Wamakko on PHCs, Alhaji Ibrahim Jibril, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto.

Jibril said that the gesture was part of government’s commitment to provide effective and qualitative health care services in rural communities.

He said that the ambulances would be assigned to each of the 244 primary health centres in the electoral wards of the state.

He said that the rural health centres were capable of accommodating 20 patients at a time, adding that the ambulances would assist in transporting emergency cases to the nearest general hospital in the 23 local government areas.

Jibril reiterate government’s commitment to deliver functional and qualitative health care service to the door steps of the people.

He said that the 23 general hospitals were equipped with modern facilities and drugs to ensure efficient health services to the people.

He called on the people to reciprocate government’s gesture by reporting disease outbreaks to the nearest health institution for prompt attention. (NAN)
