Sokoto State Varsity to graduate 6,000 students at 8th Combined Convocation

Sokoto State University is set to graduate 6,000 students at its 8th Combined Convocation on Saturday.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Bello Yarima, disclosed this on Monday in Sokoto at the University’s Pre-Convocation press conference.
Prof. Yarima also said that the graduating students were products of the five Faculties of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor also said that Honourary Doctorate Degrees would be awarded to “distinguished individuals who have contributed immensely to the educational and socio-economic development of Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi States as well as other parts of Nigeria.”
Prof. Yarima commended Gov. Ahmed Aliyu, the Visitor to the University, for his sustained invaluable moral and financial support.
“He saw the budget for this convocation ceremony and he instantly jerked up the figure by several millions of Naira
“The Governor has indeed remained a true father and benefactor to the Sokoto State University and we happily cherish this always.”
The Vice-Chancellor also commended the Founder of the University, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, for also being a dependable pillar to the Institution.
He specifically applauded his magnanimity of executing one of his constituency projects, whose scope is to expand the University’s library, which will soon be completed.
He said that his vision is to make the university a hub of entrepreneurship in the next ten years.
“The state government has also given us the clear mandate to produce students who can create jobs and not only job seekers,” Prof. Yarima added.
The Vice-Chancellor extolled the diligence and resilience of the management and staff of the University, saying their collective unwavering commitment is the key to the various successes recorded by the institution.
