The Sokoto State Government said it would soon embark on the total overhaul of the offices of the Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs), across the 23 Local governments of the state.
The Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Sokoto State Universal Education Board ( SUBEB), Engr. Tukur Mohammed Yabo, disclosed to newsmen in Sokoto on Monday, on behalf of its Chairman, Alhaji Umaru Na-Gwari Tambuwal.
According to Engr. Yabo, the education-friendly Governor of the state, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, gave the directive for the urgent execution of the all-important rehabilitation project sequel to the state of dilapidation of the structures.
Yabo added,” Most of these offices billedbfor renovation have not been given any facelift for decades.
“Most of them had been badly affected by windstorm while several others have been seriously leaking and the Governor is not happy either sorry state.
“Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto is fully committed to reviving education at all levels in Sokoto State and this cannot be effected done with the dearth of befitting structures.”
Engr. Yabo further applauded the Governor for his unwavering commitment to urgently removing Sokoto State from the list of educationally-disdvantaged states in rh country.
“There is little wonder therefore that Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has been adequately funding education at all levels from 2023 to date and the invaluable efforts are already yielding positive fruits.
“This is why we have embarked on state-wide inspection visits to assess the extent of the renovation works required in the above direction.
“Some of the structures will just be rehabilitated while others are going to be renovated and expanded to make them in tune with extant global standards,” he added.
Meanwhile, the state government had also distributed assorted digital equipment to all the LGEAs across the 23 Local governments of the state.
Disclosing this to newsmen in Sokoto on Monday, on behalf of Tambuwal, the ICT Officer of the board, Mallam Nura Sani, said that the gesture was aimed at improving data collection.
He explained, “The equipment doled out included iPads and laptop computers via the Education Information Management System offices across the state.
“This was in the bid to further digitize the operations of all Primary and Basic Schools across Sokoto State.”
Sani also stated that the board had since established ICT Centres across the 23 LGAs of the state in line with the digital vision and mission of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.
