The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has revealed plans to launch a special intervention squad in Kaduna to tackle the menace of insecurity.
He announced this to the media after meeting with Governor Uba Sani at the State Government House in Kaduna, yesterday,
The IGP added that the first batch of the special squad would soon pass out from training and be deployed immediately to commence action.
Speaking on the kidnap case at Kuriga, the IGP said that actions have been taken to ensure the safe return of the abducted school children.
Mr Egbetokun, while on his maiden working visit to the Police command, commended the security personnel for their dedication and commitment to duty in maintaining peace in the state.
However, the IGP frowned at some of the personnel who were bent on tarnishing the image of the force and urged the commanders to always fish them out for appropriate sanction.
He stressed that there’s a need for the personnel to be law-abiding and maintain a good image so that they can attract the love and respect of the people.
“We want a Police that will be loved by everybody. If the Police serve the people well and they pray for them, the prayers will follow them and their children,” he said.
Describing the commissioner of Police in the state as a man of integrity, he urged him to continue to instil discipline in the hearts of the personnel.
The IGP also encouraged the personnel to be selfless in service and firm in tackling insecurity in the state.
Earlier, the commissioner, Audu Dabigi, attested to the many victories recorded against kidnapping, banditry and other forms of insecurity in the state since his inception of duty in the state.
While applauding the IGP’s support in the war against crime, the Commissioner solicited for more, to continue defeating criminality in the state.
