The Minister for Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has charged the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to employ a coach who has pedigree and a track record of success to lead the Super Eagles.
Enoh said it is importance that a coach with a reputable history in African football is need to manage the national team; even as he highlighted the need for a coach who understands the unique dynamics of African football.
In a statement by Diana-Mary Nsan, S.A. Media to the Minister, he said; “the Super Eagles needs a coach with pedigree and a track record of achievements. We need someone who can propel us towards winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and ensure our qualification for the 2026 World Cup.”
The Minister further reiterated the need to make the expected appointment urgently, insisting that the coach must not only bring tactical expertise but also possess a deep understanding of African football and its dynamics.
“Time is of the essence. We must act swiftly to prepare adequately for the 2025 AFCON and the World Cup qualifiers. The future of Nigerian football depends on the decisions we make today,”
“The terrain of African football requires a specific type of knowledge and experience. We need a coach who has proven their capability in this environment and can bring out the best in our players,” he added.
Enoh also stated that the tremendous support the NFF has received from President Bola Tinubu’s administration, reinforced the government’s commitment to elevating Nigerian football on the global stage.
“Our goal is clear – we want the Super Eagles and other national teams to excel and bring glory to our nation. The right coach will be instrumental in achieving this,” he concluded.
