The Society of Engineers (NSE) has organized a quiz competition for both public and private secondary schools on science based subjects in Kaduna. Society of Engineers (NSE) Kaduna branch, Chairman, Engineer Abdulrasheed Babalola emphasized on the need to promote science and technical education in the country.
He disclosed this during the 3rd edition of the inter -secondary school quiz competition organized by their association.
Engineer Babalola expressed the society’s determination to take science and technical education to its highest height.
According to him, the aim of the competition is to groom the younger generation for a better tomorrow.
“This quiz competition is targeted at promoting science and technical education in our schools. For you to get things working, you have to start from the basis.
“ We have sent our various standards to all the schools before today and I am happy the standard of our secondary schools from what we have seen today, both the government and private schools are all performing.
“All that is needed is for us stakeholders to ensure that the right thing is enforced right from this level of academics. I am really impressed,” he said.
Babalola called on well-meaning Nigeria to help in contributing their quota to the development of educational sector in the country.
“We are calling on well-meaning Nigerians including civil societies to help in contributing towards the growth of this sector.
“Government to me cannot do everything. We have to do our own part in order to ensure the best for our children and that is the reason why we have organized this. We have prizes here to be given to the best performing schools. Particularly the first, second and third,”he said.
Chairperson of the Competition Committee, Engineer Dr. Francisca Nwafulugo described the competition as an inter-show of knowledge said such competitions have positive impacts on the students’ The star prize of Mobile Laboratory Equipment including the Cup went to St. Annes, Kaduna who came first with the overall total of 16 points in the quiz competition.
PANAF Schools came 2nd with the total of 14 points while Adeyemo College came 3rd with the total of 12points.
