The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and other stakeholders shared the sum of N2.419,771.26 as statutory allocation from the federation accounts for the month of January.
The figure shows that January allocation is higher than last month allocation by over N100m and the highest so far since 2015, in the wake of the sudden slump in oil price in the international market.
A statement signed by Press Secretary, FCTA Permanent Secretary’s Office, Tony Odey, said the Permanent Secretary, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa disclosed the funds disbursement, during the Joint Area Councils Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting for the month of January.
A breakdown of the allocation shows that Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) got N216million, while Gwagwalada Area Council received N195million and Kuje got N166million, respectively.
Similarly, Kwali received N162million, while Abaji and Bwari got N151million each.
Furthermore, statutory deductions from the release include: Primary School Teachers’ salaries which gulped N1billion.
Others are 15% Pension Funds N226million,1% Training Fund N24million and 10% Employer Pension Contribution N58million, respectively.
The statement said Ohaa, who is the Chairman of JAAC charged the six Area Council Chairmen in the Territory to ensure judicious use of the funds.
It added that, Chairman of Kwali Area Council, who is also the Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the FCT, Hon.Joseph Shazin described the distribution of the funds as fair and equitable.
