Stealing: Court remands 24-yr old mechanic

An Akure Magistrates’ Court yesterday remanded a 24-year-old motorcycle mechanic, Tunde Olajobi, for alleged conspiracy, breaking in and entering as well as stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Martins Olowofeso, said the accused and others at large committed the offences on April 27 at about 8 a.m. at 52, Iwalewa Street, Akure.

Olowofeso said: “He conspired, broke and entered into the dwelling house of one Adeturin Sunday and Folorunso Akinola with intent to commit felony.

“He also stole N4,000, HP laptop valued at N180,000, Etisalat cell phone worth N7,000, four SIM cards valued at N10,000 and flash drive worth N2,500.

“Other items stolen include a Samsung Galaxy Tab worth N16, 000 and three Nokia cell phones, valued at N52, 000.

“The total value of the items stolen by the accused is put at N271,000.’’

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Olowofeso applied for an adjournment to enable him assemble his three witnesses in court.

The counsel to the accused, Chimezie Obiaghanwa, did not object to the application for adjournment, but pleaded for bail of his client.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Olufunke Adegoroye, however, rejected the application and ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody. She adjourned the case till July 7. (NAN)
