Stop imposing courses on children, varsity don cautions parents

A University Don, Professor Kola Eke has warned parents in the country against imposition of courses on their children seeking admission into universities, adding that influencing admission for children might spell academic doom for them in the nearest future
Professor Eke who spoke to journalists in Asaba on Wednesday in an interview, lamented the increasing rate of suicide cases and drug abuse among students of tertiary institutions, said that if nothing was done by parents to address the ugly trend might become huge challenge to the society, regretting that imposing courses on children was one of the reasons why those who could not cope take to the path of suicide.
He said:” the increasing rate in these anti-social vices among students of tertiary institutions could be attributed to peer influence, cultism, single parenting, lack of parental care and course imposition on students seeking admission into tertiary institutions.”
