Stop Katsina LG election, state NCP warns

Date:

From Lawal Sa’idu Funtua, Katsina

Katsina State Chairman of the National Conscience Party, NCP, Alhaji Abdulmumini Shehu, has warned the state independent electoral commission against holding local governments election until some contentious issues are addressed.

Speaking with newsmen yesterday in Katsina, Shehu noted that they have written letters to the Commission asking it to stop the election pending the time their grievances were looked into.

He said “we have raised the issue of the commission not adhering to the electoral act. Voters register was not displayed, the time given for the conduct of the election did not conform with the electoral law”.

Shehu disclosed that due to the perceived none compliance with their demands, the party, according to him, would today file a suit praying for court to stop the conduct of the election.

Similarly, the chairman stressed that their party did not believe in violent conduct as he said the party would follow a non violent approach to struggle, adding that they would use all constitutional means at their disposal to fight for their rights.

He therefore assured that his party would continue to provide credible opposition in the state, adding that they have already started mobilization of members across the state for the 2015 general elections.
