From Lawal Sa’idu Funtua, Katsina

The leader of Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’a Waíqamatus Sunna,( JIBWIS) Katsina State, Shiekh Yakubu Musa Hassan has warned politicians to stop making inflammatory statements that could create chaos and promote genocide in the country.

Hassan, who stated this in an interview with newsmen yesterday in Katsina, said it is unfortunate for those in position of authority to be making careless statements capable of encouraging their supporters to embark on violence.

He noted that he was saddened by a statement credited to a political leader in the state (name withheld) where he alleged that the leader was quoted to have referred to his political opponents as cockroaches that deserve to be killed.

“Security agencies must move quickly to investigate this statement. Considering the security situation in the country such statements are dangerous and capable of throwing the state into chaos and uncertainty” he noted.

Similarly, Hassan has called on eligible voters in Katsina State to make sure they obtain the permanent voter card, stressing that that no matter the obstacles they should make sure they exercise patience in obtaining it.

He added “it is your right as a citizen of the country to make sure you have a voice in electing your leaders. Bad leadership can only be changed through your votes; husbands should allow their wives to obtain the cards”.
