From Yakubu Mustapha Minna
The Organized Labour in Niger state has extended its earlier 14 days ultimatum due to the 7 days public holidays declared by the state government and Labour Act.
This was contained in a communique signed by the NLC Chairman, Comrade Idris Lafene and TUC Chairman Comrade Ibrahim Gana issued at the end of joint state administrative council meeting of the NLC and TUC Congress held at labour house, Minna.
The Organized Labour called on the state government to use the window to address the pending issues, adding that in the event that the negotiations failed, there will be no option than for the Union to embark on industrial action within 24 hours.
The Organized Labour however, appreciated the members for their unflinching support and understanding.
It would be recalled that the union earlier issued a fourteen days ultimatum to the Niger state government on 20th December, 2023, to address the lingering issues of welfare of the state and local government civil servants which elapsed on January 4, 2024
