The police have arraigned a 19-year old student, Laura Chima, in a Wuse Zone 2 Chief Magistrates’ court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing jewelry worth N300,000 from her friend’s apartment.
The Police Prosecutor, Cpl Paul Anigbo, told the court that on June 15, Oris Ogochukwu of Galadimawa Estate, off Airport Road, Abuja, reported the accused at the Lugbe Police Station.
He said that Ogochukwu reported that on June 12, the accused visited him in his house and called her friend, Queeneth, who is now at large to join her.
Anigbo told the court that on June 13, Ogochukwu went out of the house to buy some things.
The prosecutor said that the accused was standing trial for the offences of criminal conspiracy and theft which contravened sections 97 and 288 of the Penal code.
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against her.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Ramatu Gulma, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
Gulma adjourned hearing in the case to July 23. (NAN)
