Subsidy: FG, labour in crucial meeting

Date:

The federal government negotiating team is currently in a crucial meeting with representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and those of the TUC led by their presidents.

The meeting which began at about 5:35pm is in continuation of talks over labour’s demand for palliatives, following the removal of petrol subsidy by the federal government in May.

The meeting is, however, coming about 48 hours to the proposed protest by labour expected to begin nationwide to press home their demands for speedy provision of palliatives to suffering Nigerians.

Last Friday, the organised labour reportedly stormed out of the negotiation meeting, alleging that the federal government was not serious as the presidential aides present at the meeting would not be able to take any concrete decisions on behalf of government.
