The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III has charged both politicians and the traditional rulers to avoid unnecessary acrimony and bickering to the detriment of the people.
Sultan made the pledged yesterday when the new Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II paid him a courtesy call at his palace in Sokoto. He urged the new emir to be grateful to God for making him an Emir, saying, “God gives and takes leadership.”
According to him, traditional rulers will continue to conduct themselves as ordained by God, in line with the Islamic injunctions. And promise to continue to extend the hands of friendship to the new Emir of Kano, just it was done during the reign of late Ado Bayero.
“We should team up to better the lives of our people, as we are all leaders who have entrusted with various leadership roles,
The monarch also said that the two parties should focus more on improving the lives of Nigerians in a myriad of ways.
“Nigerians are now in dire need of the support and assistance of the leaders and we should not waiver in doing so. Leadership is crucial in Islam and it is a trust that we will account for before the Almighty Allah,” the monarch, averred.
The new emir had earlier told sultan that he was in his Palace to pay homage and respect in line with the tradition of Kano Emirate for centuries.
