Nigeria’s quest to win her 4th Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON title has ended at the Last 16 stage after the Super Eagles lost 1-0 to the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia yesterday.
In the match played at the Roumde Adjia Stadium, Garoua, the Augustine Eguavoen-led lads lost to Youssef Msakni 46th minute goal.
Msakni found space and unleashed a screamer beyond Maduka Okoye in the goal post.
Eagles push for equaliser was made worse after Alex Iwobi who came in for Kelechi Iheanacho was shown a straight red card in 65th minute.
The centre referee first issued the Everton star a yellow card but after VAR review, he changed his mind and went for a straight red.
Down to 10 men and a goal deficiency, the Eagles made concerted efforts to equaliser but it ended unsuccessful.
