The Super Falcons are set for a major change ahead of their October assignment, with the Nigeria Football Federation expected to appoint a new technical crew before the team resumes their 2028 Women’s Olympic qualifying campaign.
According to a report by The Punch, National Sports Commission Director-General Bukola Olopade confirmed that changes are being considered following the team’s disappointing campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The NFF had earlier asked Justine Madugu and his technical team to step down after Nigeria suffered their earliest-ever exit from the continental tournament.
The Falcons were eliminated in the quarter-finals following a 1-0 defeat to Cameroon.
Their disappointment continued in the CAF play-off for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where they lost 2-1 to South Africa and failed to secure a place at the global tournament.
Other members of the technical crew affected by the decision include former Falcons’ goalkeeper Ann Chiejine, goalkeeper coach Auwal Makwalla, Swedish video analyst Igor Krulj, and fitness coach Per Karlsson.
With the Olympic qualifiers fast approaching, Olopade indicated that the authorities are keen to make the necessary adjustments to ensure Nigeria remain on course for qualification.
Nigeria returned to the women’s football event at the Paris 2024 Olympics after a 16-year absence but failed to advance from the group stage.
The Super Falcons are scheduled to face Comoros in October when their Olympic qualifying campaign resumes.
Comoros reached the second round after securing a 30-0 aggregate victory over Sudan.
