The Supreme Court on Wednesday reserved its judgment in two appeals filed by the Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The appellants are seeking to set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which voided the national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025.
A five-man panel of the apex court, led by Justice Mohammed Garba, announced that a date for the ruling would be communicated to all parties after they had adopted their respective briefs of argument.
The first appeal, marked SC/CV/164/2026, was filed by the PDP against the Court of Appeal’s decision, which had upheld an earlier ruling by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court. In that lower court judgment, Justice Lifu barred the PDP from proceeding with its national convention without the participation of Sule Lamido, the former Governor of Jigawa State.
The second appeal, SC/CV/166/2026, was filed by the PDP, its National Working Committee (NWC), and the National Executive Committee (NEC) against the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.
The appellants are contesting the appellate court’s affirmation of a Federal High Court order restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from monitoring the Ibadan convention.
Having heard the arguments from the legal counsel representing all parties, the apex court adjourned the matter for judgment on a date to be announced.
