National Coordinator of the SURE-P Graduates Internship Scheme (SURE-P- GIS), Mr. Peter Papken has commended the federal government for creating employment opportunities to graduates through its Subsidy Re-Investment & Empowerment Programme (SURE-P).
According to him, the Graduates Internship Programme (GIS) no doubt has provided employment to graduates across the country.
Speaking at a 3-day Orientation Training for Employers and Interns organized by Federal Ministry of Finance in collaboration with (GIS) closing ceremony held in the state, Mr. Peter Papken charged interns partaking in the scheme to utilize the project in order to improve and better their lives.
Represented by Auditor GIS SURE-P, Mrs. Adesanya Christiana, Mr. Papken said the scheme is to provide job for the graduates, placing the graduates in a 12 months internship with reputable organizations to improve their employability skills and give them a source of livelihood at the end of the year.
“GIS training scheme is to provide job for graduates with quality jobs. We placed the graduates for a 12 months internship with reputable organizations to improve their employability skills and give them a source of livelihood.
“The orientation programme is to help them build their skills and to take their minds far away from just collecting the money at the end of the month.
“My expectation is that the orientation would have impacted positively on 75 per cent of the participant if not all. And they would be okay by establishing their own business,” he said.
He advised the participants to showcase what they have learnt to others, so that people will know that federal government is utilizing the subsidy funds well to improve and better the lives of the citizens.
The coordinator also advise the interns to key into the scheme and utilize the SURE-P GIS project in order to improve and better their lives”, he said.
Meanwhile, the participants at the 3-day orientation expressed excitement with the scheme, as they assured of effective use of the fresh ideas learnt from the training.
