SURE-P trains 100 graduates in skill acquisition in Gombe

Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme in Gombe state has trained 100 graduates in skill acquisition with a view to reducing hardship among youths.

The director ICT of the federal ministry of finance, Mr. Popka Peter who was represented by Head of ICT in the ministry, Mr. Samaila Lasa Tifari made the disclosure yesterday in Gombe during the graduate

internship scheme orientation training for interns and firms representatives, saying the aim of the training was to enhance unemployed youths knowledge to enable them have sense of belonging in the society.

He said government would do everything possible to ensure that graduates without job   benefit from the gesture, adding that government is committed to provide necessary facilities in order to transform the lives of youths who has no job.

Speaking further, the director also affirmed that even though the programme is facing challenges where some youths had engaged themselves to benefit from the programme without working for it.

In an interview shortly with the participants during the training, Mr. Yusuf Baba and Saraya Jonathan thanked the leadership of SURE-P for organizing the training in order to enhance their knowledge to enable them be useful in the society.

According to them, the training had developed their skills which they said would help in transforming the lives of youths who had no job, stressing that the  programme would go a long way in assisting the youths in their day to day activities.

Meanwhile, the Commandant Armoured Corps Major-General Tanko Gaiya represented by the Corps Chief of Staff, Brigadier-General Kayode Ogundek charged the soldiers in filed not to betray the country and their colleagues, saying they are making progress in chasing the insurgents out of the country.

The newly promoted officers and decorated men are the Deputy NAAS Commandant, Brigadier B.O Sawyeer from the rank of Colonel to Brigadier General, A.O Abdullahi from Colonel to Brigadier, S.D Makolo from Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel, T A Ayoola from Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel, G Oyinwola from Major to Lieutenant Colonel.A.A

Adekuoroye, A Musa, S A Salawo and B M Abdullahi promoted from Captains to Majors. Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Brigadier General Sawyeer said with the promotion they are expected to double their efforts, saying they will continue to contribute their quota in terms of generating ideas in tackling insecurity in the country.
