The National Institution of Surveyors has reminded the Federal Government on the need to partner with the Institution in mapping of inaccessible security risk areas through the use of surveillance techniques.
The newly elected President of the Institution, Surveyor Alabo Charles gave the reminder while reading the communiqué issued at the end of the fifty Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Institution held in Bauchi.
The President said using updated geo-database on land and proper boundary delineation as well as demarcation of grazing reserves would go a long way in minimizing security challenges in the society.
On Environmental Degradation and Monitoring, Surveyor Charles said the Conference observed that regular mapping of shorelines is needful to avoid costly location of structures along shore.
He said on Water Resources Infrastructure Management, the Conference emphasized the need for government to encourage research for investigation the potentials of irrigation Dams for Electricity Generation and Flood Control.
The President assured that the new executives of the Institution would collaborate with relevant private bodies for regular training and retraining of surveyors for effective land administration in the country.
