Rampaging Suspected armed robbers in Asaba Metropolis in Delta State on Sunday night allegedly Killed two security guards working for late Chief Sunny Odogwu (SIO) Company along Asaba Onitsha express way and disappeared without any property removed.
It was gathered that the suspected armed robbers stormed the company around 9.40 pm immediately the two security guards resumed from where they had gone eat their meals and had barely settled down when the bubble burst
Eyewitness Martin Adigwe said the two security guards, Robbert Nzemike, and Dennis Emekeze both Sixty five years old each, were ordered into doing frog Jump for few minutes before they rained bullets on them, leaving their bodies in pool of blood.
But the police commissioner in the state, Anthony Ogbizi who confirmed the killing of the two security guards to newsmen in Asaba, said the police were on the trail of the suspected armed robbers, adding that though no arrest have been made, promising that the police will do everything possible to fish out them out the armed robbers
CP Anthony Ogbizi said:” We are working hard to bring the suspected armed robbers to book, no arrest has been made so far, but the police will ensure the robbers are brought to book, Investigation showed that no property of the SIO Company was removed by the robbers, they shot the two security guards on their chests, and they died on the spot and their corpses deposited at the federal Medical Center ( FMC) Mortuary, while Investigation Continues”
The wife of one of the killed guards, Mrs Rebecca Emekeze who spoke to newsmen at her Obinaco residence in Okwe, Asaba said: “ My husband called me around 7.30 pm as he was going to work that he had an accident on his way to work, I told him to come back home, he refused, saying he will manage to go to work, I didn’t know he was going to be killed, few hours later, I got a call that my husband had been shot dead, I am finished, who will help now to train two of our children still in school, I want the police to bring the robbers to book, the public should help me, I am finished, I am finished, please help me they have killed my husband”
It was further gathered that suspected armed robbers in the past Six months have terriorizing Okwe community in Asaba, including many privately owned companies along Asaba Onitsha express way,a situation they were alleged to killed four persons during their operations at night fall
Some residents along the expressway who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonymity said:” robbery incidences are becoming almost on daily basis, the robbers will robbed, and Kill the security guards in most of the privately owned Offices in Asaba, we are appealing to the Security Operatives to ensure the armed robbers are brought to book,we are getting worried if the situation continues in this dastardly operating activities, the police should also ensure the people are brought to book”
Only recently, these rampaging robbers visited a newlyweds around the market square in Okwe community during night fall and allegedly Killed the couple who were said to have just finished taking their evening meal right inside their house.
Since then , there have been hue and cry of palpable fear of the unknown, especially the killing manners by the Suspected armed robbers and no valuable taking away from their victims
But speaking further, CP Anthony Ogbizi however appealed to members of the public to always provide the police with useful information that will help in arresting the bandits and bring them to book, and assured that the police will do everything possible to protect lives and properties in the state
