A suspected motorcycle thief was on Wednesday set ablaze by angry mob at the North bank suburb of Makurdi metropolis in Benue State.

This is just as five houses were burnt in Adeke area of Mobile Barracks also on Wednesday after suspected rival cult groups clashed.

Witnesses told our correspondent that the incident occured early hours of that day after the suspects and his accomplice who managed to escape tried unsuccessfully to rob a commercial motorcyclist of his bike.

According to him, “the two persons had boarded a motorcycle and asked the motorcyclist to take them to Lafia junction. As they headed there, the bike rammed between two vehicles and one of them jumped off and escaped while the other was apprehended and burnt alive.

Also, sources from the Adeke area disclosed to newsmen that trouble started around 12 noon when the youths attacked one person suspected to be a member of a rival cult group around the Adem community close to Adeke Community.
