The President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Isaiah Kemje Benjamin (JP) has while congratulating the newly elected executive committee members of the association, Kaduna Chapter, tasked them to ensure the association is visible on the State through regular activities.
This was contained in a statement signed by his SA Media, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, dated Saturday December 14, 2024.
He expressed this in a goodwill message delivered after the swearing in of the new officials at the prestigious ASAA Pyramid Hotel in Kaduna on Saturday December 14, 2024.
He said that Kaduna SWAN is his home, as such if there were to be election, he would have voted.
He charged the new exco to make SWAN work in the State.
“I want to charge the new chairman please ensure you don’t take only your exco along, but all members. Ensure you extend invitation of events to all members.
“Put SWAN in Kaduna on the spotlight like other states are doing. You can always count on the support of the National Secretariat, but you must show that you are working. Engage all associations in the state. Write to the associations on the State, make sure your members are members of the board. During our time we tried to get mobility but it didn’t work. But I pray under your tenure it works.
“I want to congratulate all of you once again,” he said.
Earlier in his remarks, Kaduna SWAN Chairman, Shehu Abdullahi thanked all members and his executive for helping the administration he inherited from Isaiah Benjamin jamin, who was elected SWAN National President last year, explaining that this is his first term of contesting for chairman.
In his goodwill message, patron of Kaduna SWAN, Engineer Musa Nimrod represented by Alhaji Samaila congratulated the new exco.
In his remarks, the Zonal VP North West SWAN, Kabiru Idris Gobarawa wished the new exco success, while assuring of support of the National Secretariat.
He urged the EXCO to always do things in line with the statutes of SWAN.
SWANECO Chairman, Yakubu Obande thanked Kaduna SWAN for giving him the privilege to serve.
A guest, Dr. Alex Manna, congratulated the newly elected officers.
He said that Kaduna used to be at the forefront of journalism, urging Kaduna SWAN to organize competitions.
Those elected are; Shehu Abdullahi (Chairman), Mike Odeh James (Vice Chairman), Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson (Secretary), Idris Dari (Financial Secretary), Juliet Ekwenugo (Treasurer), Stella Solomon Kabruk (Welfare Officer) and Austine Agbo (Assistant Secretary).
They were all elected unopposed.
High point of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates to those elected, as well as members of SWANECO.
The Kaduna Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Chairman, Comrade Asmau Halilu Yawo, was also present at the elective Congress.
