Determined to ensure effective information dissemination in the sports sector, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, will soon launch its online newsletter.
SWAN President, Honour Sirawo who disclosed in an interview said the essence is to deepen the information generation and reportage with a view to enthroning factual information sharing.
Honour Sirawo added that when operational, which will take place very soon, the newsletter will serve as the repertoire of information, news stories and opinions of sports journalists across the 37 chapters in the country including the Federal Capital Territory.
Mr Sirawo added that the newsletter could have been unveiled on the 2nd of July, the World Day for Sports Journalists but said the delay in the unveiling was the ongoing review of the SWAN Status
“It is based on this that we plan to launch SWAN Newsletter. What has been delaying it is the amendment of the Status. Once we amend it, because it is inserted there, we will now have what we call SWAN Newsletter. It will be an online publication.
“We are currently doing review of our status to make it effective. Our plan was to launch it as part of our celebration of World Sports Journalist Day on 2nd July but the review was necessary so we put it hold.
“The essence is to further enhance the process of information dissemination, to deepen our ideas and share factual and verifiable information to the public.
“The newsletter will be a reservoir of our members’ opinions and stories backed up with verifiable facts. It will be open to all our members but just as I said, it will be online,” he said.
